FAQs

1. What is the material?

The kimonos are made from a material called ‘Ramie’.

Ramie is a plant native in East Asia, and it has been used for clothing for millennia. (The original kimonos from Japan have been made from silk or ramie. Mummies in Egypt have been wrapped with ramie.)

It is remarkably robust, yet smooth and cosy - often called ‘vegan silk’.
We source the eco fibre in Indonesia, where it is hand-woven in a traditional way.

Ramie is a natural plant material, the kimonos are extremely comfortable on the skin,
airy, breathable and they become softer and softer, the more they are worn.

2. Why Cacao?

Because we love cacao. And because there is a free cacao gift with every kimono.

3. How do I wash it?

Easy! You can put the kimonos in the washing machine, together with the rest of your clothes (we recommend max. 40°C). For the shell kimono, it is best to use a washing net or to avoid the spin cycle to protect the shells.

Only exception: For the ‘Cacao Kimono’ (chocolate colour), which is dyed with natural plant colours, we recommend hand washing or the machine programme ‘hand wash / delicate’.

4. Are the kimonos for men too?

Absolutely! All kimonos are unisex, and there are many men buying the kimonos.

The shorter models ‘Black Kimono’ and ‘White Kimono’ are designed with the intention to be worn especially by men, but again, there are many women buying them as well.

5. Do you have a shop?

The Shop on this website is the main point of sale.

Beside this, there are several concept stores, yoga studios and hand-selected spaces worldwide, where the kimonos are available in physical stores. Check out the Stores page to find out more.

6. Are they all one size?

Yes, they have been developed as one-size-fits-all. The maxi style allows for different bodies to wear them. You can accentuate your shape through the belt.

We have seen the kimonos on tall, short, curvy, skinny, older & younger people and they look wonderful on every person! That is why they are great presents, too.

7. When do I wear them?

The kimonos are multi-functional. They are great for a casual, relaxed context, as well as more festive, formal occasions.

You can wear them at home, when you wake up, with a cup of cacao in bed, whilst reading or meditating, after taking a bath, at the beach, pool, in the spa, sauna & hammam, but you can also dress up:

Combine them with jewellery, jeans, heels or lipstick and you have the perfect party outfit!

8. Free shipping?

Yes, there is worldwide free shipping.

9. Free returns?

Yes, you can return the kimono within 30 days of purchase and receive the full amount back.
